Private Payphone (1994)
The place of the payphone in adolescents’ romantic relationships was also the theme of this 1994 television advertisement in BT’s advertising campaign, ‘It’s Good to talk’. The television adverts, produced in 1994 by AMV BBDO, initially starred the actor, Bob Hoskins. This advert, Private Payphone, targetted both adolescents and their parents as telephone users. It repeated the familiar scenario of the difficulty adolescents experienced finding privacy for personal conversations on telephones in the home, and showed the telephone kiosk as a solution.
